Wild Man Review

What did I think of...

Wild Man by Kristen Ashley

Description:
She's about to walk on the wild side . . .

While filling the display case in her bakery, the bell over the door sounds and Tessa O'Hara looks up to see the man of her dreams. Within thirty seconds he asks her out for a beer. But after four months of dating, she discovers he's an undercover DEA agent-and he's investigating her possible role in her ex-husband's drug business. For Tess, this means their relationship is over.

Brock disagrees. He's committed to his anti-drug mission, but he's fallen in love with the beautiful woman who's as sweet as her cupcakes-and he'll do anything to win her back. Standing between Tess and Brock are their own exes, one of them a drug lord who's determined to get what he wants. Now as danger threatens, can Brock break the rules he's lived by and let loose his wild side to protect the woman he loves?

Gosh, Wild Man has got to be one of my favorites in the Dream Man series! From the growly, wildness of Brock Lucas, to the sweet and sugariness of Tess O'Hara's mountainous swirl, this series has always made me feel the feels, laugh and truly escape my reality and delve into the world of Dream men.

In case you don't know, our sweet Tessa is a baker, and owns her own bakery. Her sweets (or so I read) are absolutely to die for, and Tess has many cake rack's at home that are known for never being empty. While we're on the subject of Tess, I just have to say, that she has got to be one of the sweetest Kristen Ashley heroines of all. Of course, the book three of this series, Law Man, features Ten Point Five Mara, and she definitely gives our sweet Tess a run for her money. But, I am of the opinion, that Tess is definitely still the sweetest, and most non-confrontational.

Brock Lucas, is one of the more growly heroes, and also one of the most caring, as he likes for his Tess to live a Teflon coated life, and doesn't ever want her to worry about anything, or need to; she must always feel safe. Which made him all the more endearing to read.

You have to know, that Brock Lucas in Wild Man, is Skull, from Mystery Man. Yes, I hated him in Mystery Man, too. But, after reading this book, that anger and hate immediately evaporated!

Poof!

I know that this review was more of a character analysis, but really, for me, this book was all about the characters. But don't worry, there's plenty of action, sass, and wild hairs to go around!!

Highly recommended, but you do need to read the perquisite to this book, Mystery Man before you start Wild Man.

Kat

Black Rainbow

Black Rainbow

by JJ. McAoy

Is it bad that I read this book awhile and just noticed that I haven't reviewed it yet? Alas, it is far to late to write a dependable review on this book, but I do highly recommend it! I enjoyed the hell out of it, and read it as fast as I can.

For those of you know me, you know I adore the student-professor love story trope, and this one was no different, and even better. Because that wasn't even the main, or second conflict! I also adore the Lawyer books, even in the form of The Pact by Jodi Piccoult. But this book was really awesome, and I highly recommend it!!

Here's the link to this steamy, New Adult Romantic Suspense novel!

Book Giveaway!

Accidents of Marriage by Randy Susan Meyers

Description:
Accidents of Marriage explores a topic rarely shown in fiction: the destruction left in the wake of spouse’s verbal fury. Ben never meant to hurt Maddy. He never imagined his recklessness would lead to tragedy.

Maddy is a social worker trying to balance her career and three children. Years ago, she fell in love with Ben, a public defender, drawn to his fiery passion, but now he’s lashing out at her during his periodic verbal furies. She vacillates between tiptoeing around him and asserting herself for the sake of their kids – which works to keep a fragile peace – until the rainy day when they’re together in the car and Ben’s volatile temper gets the best of him, leaving Maddy in the hospital fighting for her life.

Randy Susan Meyers takes us inside the hearts and minds of her characters, alternating among the perspectives of Maddy, Ben, and their fourteen-year-old daughter. Accidents of Marriage is a provocative and stunning novel that will resonate deeply with women from all walks of life, ultimately revealing the challenges of family, faith, and forgiveness.

Be with Me Review

What did I think of... ?

Be With Me by Jennifer L. Armentrout/ J Lynn

Description:

Teresa Hamilton is having a rough year—she’s in love with her big brother’s best friend, but he hasn’t spoken to her since they shared a truly amazing, mind-blowing, change-your-life kiss. She got out of a terrible relationship. And now an injury is threatening to end her dance career for good. It’s time for Plan B – college. And maybe a chance to convince Jase that what they have together is real.

Jase Winstead has a huge secret that he’s not telling anyone. Especially not his best friend’s incredibly beautiful sister. Even though he and Teresa shared the hottest kiss of his life, he knows that his responsibilities must take priority. He certainly doesn’t have time for a relationship. But it doesn’t help that all he can think about kissing the one girl who could ruin everything for him.

As they’re thrown together more and more, Jase and Tess can’t keep denying their feelings for each other. But a familiar danger looms and tragedy strikes. As the campus recovers, the star-crossed couple must decide what they’re willing to risk to be together, and what they’re willing to lose if they’re not…

Oh my god, I waited so long to read this book! After Wait for Me (#1) and Trust in Me (#1.5), but it was always checked out at the library, and I can't tell you how excited I was to finally get my hands on this baby.

Boy was it great, too! I have to admit, I was the teeniest bit apprehensive about reading about Teresa, the little sister. But I was hooked from the start. Tess and her infatuation with Jace, her troubles with her "gimpy" leg, and all the troubles that it wrought was a true gift to read.

Tess was super cute, and so real, her feelings towards Jace were so adorable. Jace was the tall-dark-and-handsome, mysterious son of a bitch, but he was completely real, too and he wasn't too overdone, like a lot of authors try to do.

Rating: 4 stars

Genre's:

Jennifer L. Armentrout is my go-to author, because she has never ever disappointed me.

I have to admit, that as much as I enjoyed the hell out of this book, Be with Me wasn't nearly as good as Wait for Me, although I'm not sure any will ever be that magically amazing!!

XOXO,
Kat

Rock Hard Review

What did I think of...

Rock Hard by Nalini Singh

Description:

Wealthy businessman Gabriel Bishop rules the boardroom with the same determination and ruthlessness that made him a rock star on the rugby field. He knows what he wants, and he’ll go after it no-holds-barred.

And what he wants is Charlotte Baird.

Charlotte knows she’s a mouse. Emotionally scarred and painfully shy, she just wants to do her job and remain as invisible as possible. But the new CEO—a brilliant, broad-shouldered T-Rex of a man who growls and storms through the office, leaving carnage in his wake—clearly has other plans. Plans that may be equal parts business and bedroom.

If Charlotte intends to survive this battle of wits and hearts, the mouse will have to learn to wrangle the T-Rex. Game on.

Genre: Erotic Romance, Sports, NA/Adult, Erotica, Dirty Romance, Abuse, Contemporary.

I've been holding a candle to Nalini Singh for years, and intended to wait until after all of her Psy-Changeling books were out... but that didn't happen. It happened like this.

I was in between books on Friday, so I was trolling around online; stalking the usual book blogs and sites. On one of them, I saw a link to read this online. So I started reading, and was shocked at how good it was! I scrolled up to look at the author... and it was Nalini Singh! Since she's like on book freaking fourteen or something, I imagine it will be awhile.

Today is the start of my new Nalini Singh Crusade... starting with Rock Addiction, book one since I accidentally started with book two... *guilty look* I know, I know.
Anyway, into the book.

The writing style was Absolutely Incredible. On par with my favorites, Kristen Ashley and Ilona Andrews! The characters were so real, and the connection they had was undeniable. Both in friendliness, love and red-hot passion. The stark terror that Charlotte felt was horrifying, and the determination she held to get over it was humbling. Gabriel's hopelessness for Charlotte's internal battle was saddening, and the outrageous flirting those two (by two I mean Gabriel) exhibitied was fun to read!

In conclusion, I thoroughly enjoyed the story of Charlotte and Gabriel, the back-and-forth between the mouse and the T-Rex and highly recommend this awesome read!

Kat

Recent New Find

New Gem?

Madeleine Abducted by M.S. Willis

Description:

She was meant to be his destruction…
A pawn played in a perilous game between father and son…
Yet, her strength was more than either man could imagine.
As Maddy learns to save herself…
She becomes the one thing that could set the son free.

Madeleine Clark was raised to become a concert cellist. Sheltered and naïve, she remains hidden behind her music, a protection from the world around her. On the night of her first solo performance, Maddy accepts the admiration of a stranger and finds herself captive in a cruel and twisted power struggle between a sadistic father and his son, Aaron.

Seemingly dangerous and uncaring, Aaron manages the business operations of his father’s estate. Wanting nothing to do with the slaves kept at the Estate, Aaron refuses to take part in the deeper depravities of his father. Despite his resistance, Aaron’s father ‘gifts’ him with a petite, brunette woman he can’t refuse.

A bond forged in conspiracy and deceit, Aaron struggles to save Maddy by teaching her to survive in the world in which he’d been raised. An unlikely union, Aaron soon learns that great strengths can exist within small packages, while Madeleine learns that love and light can exist in the darkest of places.

This sounds really good guys... has anyone read it that can give me their opinion? Or other books by this same author that they either really enjoyed or really hated?
